Tyrants! (Hat tip: Eric)
SAN FRANCISCO – San Francisco has become the first city in the nation to outlaw chewing tobacco from its playing fields, including AT&T Park, home to the San Francisco Giants.
Players and the manager of the team expressed support for the ordinance signed into law by Mayor Ed Lee on Friday but also concern about breaking the chewing habit.
The ordinance, which will take effect Jan. 1, prohibits the use of smokeless tobacco at athletic venues, specifically singling out baseball, which has a long history of players masticating and spitting tobacco juice in view of children who worship them.
Well, THERE’S the trouble – sports hero worship.
Of course, heaven forbid anyone consider changing sports adulation; not when millions of dollars are at stake…
They should both be charged; don’t mess up the address! Stupid incompetent murderous officers…
San Diego police responding to a domestic disturbance call went to the wrong address, where one of them killed the homeowner’s service dog. Ian Anderson said that when he opened the door after the officers knocked, his dog came up behind him. One of the officers reached down to pet the dog. The other stepped back, drew his weapon and shot the dog.
Three University of California, Davis, students placed a community refrigerator on their lawn and invited neighbors to use it and share food. At the end of the first month, people were not only sharing food but books as well. Then the Yolo County health department stepped in. They said the fridge was an unregulated food facility and shut it down.
I like Tim of Angle’s comment:
Well, what do you expect from a county named Yolo?
LOL! Indeed. 🙂
Means LAPD thinks you’re a john and a ho:
On 11 September actress Daniele Watts wrote on Facebook she was detained by police officers in Los Angeles. She had been kissing her boyfriend, Brian James Lucas, in a car.
They were sitting in a Mercedes parked on Ventura Boulevard. Watts, who appeared in Django Unchained, is black. Lucas, a celebrity chef who specialises in raw food, is white.
Those facts are not in dispute. Other parts of the story, however, are controversial.
“Studio City police mistook the couple for a prostitute and john,” according to Variety. “Watts refused to show her ID to the cops, and was therefore handcuffed”.
Why should she have to show her identity to the police?
And how would not having I.D. necessarily mean someone is a ‘ho?
